Ibizan Hounds are quite an uncommon breed. There are very few litters born each year. Puppies are usually spoken for well in advance so I would recommend finding a reputable breeder and then ask to be placed on a reservation/wait list for a puppy. Reputable breeders will not breed a litter until they feel they have enough of a reservation list built up. It is important to find a breeder you trust as most likely you will be in contact with this person for the lifetime of the dog! I personally love to stay in contact with everyone who gets a puppy/dog from me. I am there day or night if you have questions, concerns, need information and of course to offer lots of support!
I do not breed a litter that often, with my last litter being 8 years ago. I strive for healthy, correct, sound in mind and in body Ibizan Hounds! Much time is spent researching and planning a litter to ensure I am breeding as closely as possible to the breed standard as well as for the healthiest of Ibizans. Puppies are carefully monitored from birth up until they leave my home. A webcam is hooked up so that puppies can be watched at all times if someone is not physically watching them, plus the webcam is wonderful for anyone wanting to watch puppies! I sleep beside the whelping box for the first few weeks until the puppies are moved into the main area of the house. Once moved to the main area of the house they are exposed to all sorts of regular hustle, bustle & sounds of a normal home! Proper socialization is very important and puppies are exposed to different people, other dogs, children, etc. I like to keep puppies until 9 weeks of age. By this time puppies would have had first shots, possibly second shots, wormed, microchipped and hopefully CERFed before leaving me. They will be on their way to being potty trained and started crate training. Most likely they would have had many car rides as well.
All of my puppies are CKC (Canadian Kennel Club) registered. They will go home with parent info, pedigree, test results, etc.
All of my puppies are sold on a contract to protect the interests of the puppy, buyer and myself (the breeder).
I strive to place all of my puppies/dogs into loving homes first and foremost regardless of show potential. I do ask everyone who is interested in one of my ibizan hounds to please fill out one of my questionnaires. This ensures I can match the puppy to that perfect family!
